The Humble Origins of "Sunny Apple Silk":
One night the youngest of my cousins took an empty root beer bottle and into it poured the last of the milk and Sunny Delight. He dubbed his newly created beverage "Silk." But as he added the apple juice I commented that "Silk" was no longer an adequate name and suggested instead "Sunny Apple Silk." I laughed and further said that actually, had I not known the drink's contents, the name made it sound quite good. My cousin drank his concoction and claimed it was delicious.
A few days later I mused over the event, when suddenly, the connection hit me. That was my artwork.
In all my ideas, artwork, and writings I hybridize, taking different and seemingly incompatible elements and mixing them together, and even from the most grotesque source material endeavoring to create something beautiful. I want to stretch beyond believability, fictionalize reality, and prove in absurdity its rationale. There is no single word or theme to summarize what I make. I want to make and do everything! All that I do is color put to color, molecules of the different pulled apart and reassembled to make one cohesive body.
Everything is the same, diversified only by its existence, thus lovely and hideous and pink and recluse and germane and apocryphal all can culminate to one definition, and cylinder can have infinite meaning. I am an artist, and as an artist I make the world beautiful. Just as from a young boy's nasty brew I conjured a charming name.
